The Importance Of Church Bulletins To Your Congregation

by The Meditation Retreat on October 2, 2012

Some church goers don’t quite understand the importance of informative religious bulletins. They may see them as an unnecessary waste of paper and a waste of time to read. What they fail to realize is that church bulletins are very useful for congregations. They are filled with a wealth of information all contained in one easy to view place. Some church goers may wonder why they should bother reading a bulletin when it will only tell them what they’ll be hearing during the church announcements anyway. Well that’s the beauty of religious bulletins. Often there isn’t enough time during a regular service to squeeze in all the information a congregation may be interested in knowing. A church bulletin is filled with upcoming events, church activities, prayer requests, sermon notes, the order of the service, and which hymns or songs will be sung in service, along with inspirational messages and other information. For a new visitor to your church, this is a great way to keep them from feeling lost during the service and to make them feel more welcome as well. No one wants to sit around wondering what’s going on and what’s about to happen next. It also gives new church visitors a way to find out more about your church, and is great welcoming tool to use. If it’s their first time attending your church, or any church for that matter, the only thing a visitor may take away from the service is the church bulletin. The sermon may be forgotten, and so may many of the congregation’s names and faces, but the bulletin will remain with them on their way home. It’s something that they can look at again and again, and be reminded of what they heard in service that day, and how attending the service made them feel. The bulletin may also pose some interesting questions for them to think about, or make them feel like your church can provide them with the spiritual guidance that they’re looking for. In reality, the church bulletin is the way that visitors get to know the church. It should make them feel welcomed enough to return for another service.

Regular church members may still question the importance of having church bulletins. As previously mentioned, bulletins contain a great wealth of information. It is far easier to have a bulletin on hand featuring important events than to waste time calling up fellow church members to find out where or what time a church event is suppose to take place. In a way, a church bulletin is like having a copy of the church’s planner. Individuals keep planners so they know when and where something is happening and where they’re suppose to be at any given time and date. This is the same way a church bulletin works, except all the information has been provided for you. They also often feature important scriptures from the service. Quite often congregation members that like to review the bible text from service can’t seem to recall what scriptures were used. A church bulletin can provide that and more, because as previously stated they also feature notes from the sermon as well. This means that a person is able to devote their full attention to the sermon, and not have to worry about jotting down notes to go over later. Overall, church bulletins are a great tool to have on hand at every service.

Understanding The Teachings Of The Bible

by The Meditation Retreat on October 1, 2012

Bible teachings have improved the lives of many individuals. Believers who have joined colleges where Bible lessons are conducted nowadays; have noticed that it’s compulsory they undertake a unit in the art and the science of delivering Bible sermons.

This type of study instills special knowledge to the learners of the Bible on how to deliver the message that is written in Bible. Most commonly, the learners are taught on how after reading a given verse or chapter of the Bible they can translate it using the simplest words. They’re also taught on the way to relate the scriptures with the events of the world.

Also the learners are taught on how after delivering the sermon to the followers of Christ, they can uplift and help grow them to better heights. They give people hope and also teach them to love their neighbours just like Jesus taught people and his followers. Christianity is not only spread thru churches, many Christians are utilising the Internet. There are Christianity internet sites and forums that are spreading the word of God. Christians have joined for membership on various Christian forums and internet sites to discuss and evangelize the gospel to different parts of the world.

The Bible students are also taught on common doctrines of the Bible which have been there for thousands of years-more especially the ones that are generally known and not disputed by people. They’re also taught aspects of preaching so as to convert the non believers into believers.

Worth noting is the fact that most of the teachings used are referenced from the Bible chapters and verses. But almost all of the sermons are universally accepted through the word of mouth. This is seen more especially when a Christian is trying to explain to other believers a given section of the Bible. The followers generally accept such principles without any reference to the Holy Book of our lord.

Sermons from the Bible are not something new in this world. They were taught even in the Old Testament by prophets and the high priests of Israel who used to encourage their followers to give to the lord and show respect and honor Him for his guidance, protection and for their continued well being. Refutation evangelizing or teaching is by no means a modern phenomenon.

Some of the prophets more particularly from the Old Testament seemed not to align themselves so much to popular teachings of the Bible since they only emphasized on followers repenting and admitting their sins. Such issues made the prophets somehow unpopular to the people and were in most cases not seriously taken by the people. Their teaching ways were sometimes taken as being untrue and weird especially when foretelling what was to happen in days to come.

When Jesus used to teach the large magnitudes, he used parables that attracted the attention of the people. They were excited to hear these parables. Nowadays, preachers are also trying to use the same concept as Jesus by using real life experiences.

Checking how you completely understand the Bible and its teachings might be a bit challenging. You could be inclined to see each chapter and verse of the Bible as contradicting, but perhaps this will be a strengthening point to you toward how you understand God’s word.
